William 'Bill' Woomer
William L. "Bill" Woomer, born on Dec. 16, 1935, died on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at his residence in Fredericksburgh. He fought a long and hard battle with prostate cancer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes M. Woomer. Also preceding him in death were his faithful puppies, Woody, Dolly and Little Casey.
Bill is survived by his companion, Linda Casey; a son, Eric J. Woomer (Lori) of Florida; daughters Carole Massey (Timmy) and Julia Casey Lynne Hasley, all of Stafford, six grandchildren, Doreen, David (Kari), Tera (Jessie), Adam, Logan and Jazlynn; six great-grandchildren, Rebecca, DJ, David "Little Man," Tyler, Nicholas and Skylyn; and one sister, Joy Schauer (John) of Lebanon, Pa.
The family will receive friends and family from 7 to 9 tonight at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, where a funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, with interment immediately to follow in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle. The pallbearers will be Eric Woomer, John Schauer, Bob Oqurcak, Timmy Massey, David Massey, Adam Cappel and Olin E. Elster Jr.
Bill worked as an electrician for Becker Electric for 45 years. Prior to that, he was in the Marine Corps.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of Bill Woomer to the American Cancer Society in support of Relay For Life. Checks may be sent to Sandra Lozier, 12062 Willowood Dr., Woodbridge, Va. 22192.
