Dolores Schaefer, nee Wallendorf, peacefully went home to the Lord on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, surrounded by family at the age of 76 years.
Dolores was born on June 1, 1947 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Kurt and Veronica (Pehl) Wallendorf, as the second eldest of eight children. She graduated from St. Mary's High School on May 23, 1965.
Dolores was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Dolores will be remembered for her love of family and friends, as well as the kindness she showed to all who knew her. She excelled at everything she did. She was an amazing cook and loved having her family together for meals. She was also quite the two-stepper, and loved to sing. Whether it was singing Silent Night (in English and German) with her family at Christmastime, or singing with the musicians at Luckenbach, you could always count on her to be where the music was. She also loved being at the beach and spent many summers relaxing in Port Aransas.
Dolores was known and loved by many. From her youth playing piano and organ for many St. Mary's weddings, funerals, and other occasions as needed, to her time working at FHS as a Secretary/PEIMS Clerk, she always found joy in her work and brought joy to those around her. She made an impact on thousands of students and staff in her time working at the school with her kind, compassionate, always helpful way.
Above all, Dolores loved her family. She had a very close relationship with her brother and sisters. She would always have a funny story from her childhood growing up with 7 siblings. She loved her two sons, Jim and Billy Joe, beyond measure, and was a great "Lolly" to her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to her and she loved with her whole heart. She cherished her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them.
In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her sister, Leona "Minsie" Wallendorf; her niece and nephew, Sheila Duecker and Todd Duecker, and her brothers-in-law, Lester Duecker and Allen Land, all of Fredericksburg, Texas.
Dolores is survived by her husband, Rudy A. Schaefer of Willow City, Texas; sons, Jim Simpson and wife Misty of Midlothian, Texas and Billy Joe (BJ) Simpson and wife Christina of Fredericksburg, Texas; step-daughters: Shayna Thompson and husband Nick of Fredericksburg, Texas and Sharla Pakula and husband John of Buda, Texas; grandchildren Asia Cockrum and husband Joseph of Kerrville, Texas, Austin Simpson, Addison Simpson, Jorja Simpson of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Cason Simpson of Midlothian, Texas; Aubrey Thompson and Gage Thompson of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Addison Pakula and Hailey Pakula of Buda, Texas; and siblings Carolyn Vierus and husband Ronnie of Fredericksburg, Texas;, Eunice Duecker of Fredericksburg, Texas; Eileen Itri and husband Donnie of Fredericksburg, Texas; Vivian Land of Kyle, Texas; Melvin Wallendorf and wife Claire of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Angeline Cooper and husband Tom of Fredericksburg, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
