George Moore Obituary

George Aaron Moore, 81, of Fredericksburg, Texas, joined the Lord on Aug. 11, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born on January 10, 1943, to Pat and Helen Moore, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Following his graduation from high school, George joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served four years and rose to the rank of Sergeant before completing his service in 1965. During and after his Air Force service, George attended night school at Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Engineering, and later, a Master's Degree at Wayne's State University.

In 1980, George met his love, Joyce Woods, who would become his wife of more than 30 years.

Following his Air Force service, George accepted a position at General Motors Corporation, where he worked for 4 years before being recruited by competitor Chrysler Corporation. At Chrysler, he held a number of administrative and managerial positions at manufacturing and distribution locations around the country, rising to the position of Vice President before his eventual retirement in 2002.

George loved the Texas Hill Country, golfing, NASCAR racing, politics, yard work, and investing. He was a self-made, hard-working, take-no-prisoners individual, with no patience for the lazy or those with no drive or ambition to better themselves. He believed in hard work, achievement, and earning one's way in life.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sister, Connie Easler; brother-in-law, Gary Woods; daughter, Shelly Sartin and husband Bill; grandson, Camron Sartin and wife Alexis; daughter, Cheri Graham and husband Bill; and granddaughter, Alexandra Graham.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Monty; and many friends, coworkers, and relatives. He felt he had lived a full life, had outlived most of his peers, and that he and Joyce had been blessed to travel the world and share many great experiences.

Special thanks to Dr. Rad Kothmann and his staff, the staff at Knopp Assisted Living, and to Votive Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, Aug. 19, 11 a.m., at the Greenwood Cemetery Family Chapel, 1665 N Llano St., Fredericksburg, Texas.
