Lynette Hsia

1941 - 2024

Lynette Wehmeyer Hsia, age 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024. She was born in Fredericksburg, Texas to Nora and Marcus Wehmeyer. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1960. She briefly attended Our Lady of the Lake, but then transferred to and graduated from The University of Texas in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts. After graduating, Lynn worked with the San Antonio Independent School District, teaching math, English and typing at Hawthorne Junior High School. She married John Sollion Hsia in 1968 and moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he was a faculty member of The Ohio State University Mathematics Department. Her favorite birthday present when she was growing up was the year she received a football, and from then on, she was an avid football enthusiast and became a lifelong fan of both the Texas Longhorns and the OSU Buckeyes. Lynn will be remembered by those who knew her for enduring stubbornness and resilience that served her well as a polio survivor, her devotion to her family, and her big heart. She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Hsia (Stephen Ricci) of Hilliard, Ohio, Lisa (Adam) Knight of Peterborough, UK, and granddaughter, Emily Ricci, as well as her sister, Karen (Gary) Gardner; brother-in-law, George Lee; sisters-in-law, Antonietta Hsia and Baling Hsia, many nieces and nephews residing in California, Virginia, North Carolina and Brazil.
