Rodney Smajstrla

April 26, 1942 - December 1, 2025 Rodney Eugene Smajstrla, 83, of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bryan, Texas to Eugene and Ada Smajstrla on April 26, 1942.

He married Ella Sharon Todd on April 4, 1964, in Waco, Texas and went on to have two sons, Todd and Sean.

Rodney graduated from Reicher Catholic High School in Waco, Texas. He owned Exxon service stations in Waco and later in life he and Sharon were antique dealers in Fredericksburg. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Rodney was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Edwin Smajstrla; his mother, Ada Frances Smajstrla; and his brother, Wayland Smajstrla.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Smajstrla; son, Todd Smajstrla and wife Michelle; son, Sean Smajstrla and wife Kirsten (Tula); four grandchildren, Mason Smajstrla, Lovell Smajstrla, Corbin Smajstrla and Emilia Smajstrla. Rodney is also survived by his two brothers, Michael Smajstrla and Paul Smajstrla - all who will forever cherish his memory.

Rodney was a loving friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. He touched many lives with his sense of humor, warmth and outgoing nature. Rodney always had a profound sense of style.

A gathering to honor and celebrate Rodney will be announced in the near future. We invite family and friends to join us in remembering and celebrating his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
