Robert Rankin Obituary
Robert age 90 formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 7, 1927. He died, in Roseville, Michigan on June 18, 2017. Loving husband of Eileen. Dear father of Kathleen (Alan) Rankin-Grams. Beloved grandfather of Griffin Grams. He is survived by his cousin, Sara Harber of Arizona. Also survived by Jean Wheeler, Edward and Patty Buckley, and many nieces and nephews. Robert was Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Central Michigan University. He loved spending time at his cottage at Douglas Lake in northern Michigan and enjoyed travel and music. He was a veteran of World War II. Visitation and services to be held in Columbus, Ohio. Interment at Lithopolis Cemetery in Ohio. Memorials to Douglas Lake Improvement Association, PO Box 472, Pellston, MI 49755 or Dept of Psychology, Central Michigan University. Unfortunately, my earlier message was disrupted and I was not able to finish the rest of my thoughts about Bob.
Most importantly, Bob was one of the most dedicated teachers in the department. It was not uncommon for me to walk into his office and he would be working on some aspect of his teaching. He was continually updating his courses to keep up with the current findings and he was respected by students and faculty for doing so. I sort of lost touch with Bob after he retired but on occasion we would talk when I would see him on one of his walks.
I now wish that I would have spent more time with him after his retirement. He was a scholar and gentleman.

I remember Dr. Rankin from my student days. Was a top-notch instructor, friendly, approachable. One of the very best in his field of Social Psychology!
