Eldon A. Harms, 72, of Hooper died Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
He was born May 15, 1939, in Hooper to August and Louise (Reveillac) Harms. He came to Fremont when he was in the eighth grade. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, with 18 months in Korea. He married Stephanie Matya on Jan. 8, 1966, and they later divorced. During most of his working years he was self employed, as a barber, on a milk route and as a painter.
Survivors include: three sons, Mark (and wife, Cindy) Harms of Fremont, Matt (and wife, Kristen) Harms of Fremont and Tom (and wife, Brenda) Harms of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; two sisters, Marilyn "Rose" Nemec of North Bend and Janice Collins of Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Francis Harms of Columbus, Willmer (and wife, Charlotte) Harms of San Diego and Gordon Harms of Brookings, S.D.; and 13 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel. There is no viewing. A private family service will be held.
Memorials may be directed to the family for distribution.
