Gregg "Schmidty" Schmidt, 63, of Fremont, Neb.,, passed away on March 22, 2025, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.

Gregg was born on May 13, 1962, in Norfolk, Neb., to Garron "Gary" Schmidt and Carol Weed. He grew up in Elgin, Nebraska, and in 1971 made his home in Fremont. He was a graduate of Fremont Bergan High School in 1980 and went on to earn a business degree from Kearney University.

Gregg built a long and respected career as a business owner, dedicating 33 years to the Trophy Case in Fremont. On July 22, 1995, Gregg married Anne Barry at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anne of Fremont; sons, Austin Schmidt (Lexi Valtierra) of Dallas, Texas and Alex Schmidt of Omaha; mother, Carol Schmidt of Fremont; sisters, Deb (Rick) Leriger of Fremont, Michelle Peitzmeier of Elkhorn, and Theresa (Robert) Lopez of Arizona; foreign exchange brother, Jun Nakaboyashi of New York City; mother in law, Cindy Barry of Fremont; brothers-in-law, Brian Barry and Scott (Lori) Barry; many nieces and nephews.

Gregg was preceded in death by his dad, Gary; brother, Rick Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Jeff Kerwin and Darrel Peitzmeier; and father-in-law, Marvin Barry.

Private family services will be held at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. A celebration of life will be held from 3 until 6 p.m., April 9th, 2026, at Bucks Axe Throwing in Fremont.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a designation at a later date.
