The graveside service for Harold E. Canaga Jr., 84, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.
He died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
He was born July 29, 1922, in Fremont to Harold and Bessie (Gaeth) Canaga. He grew up in Fremont and was a 1940 graduate of Fremont High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Dec. 22, 1943, to Jan. 11, 1946, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He attended a watch maker's school in Kansas City, then operated a jewelry store in the Benson area of Omaha for 25 years, later was a manager for Ardan's in Omaha, retiring in 1985. He moved to California in 1997 and then returned to Fremont in 2003.
He married Kathryn Nevins on Sept. 18, 1948, in Omaha. She died in January 1989. He then married Idelle "Del" Dvorak on June 7, 1997, in Bellwood.
He was a member of the John J. Mercer Masonic Lodge 290 of Omaha and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2503 of Benson.
Survivors include: his wife, Del; a son, Scott (and wife, Cindy) Canaga of Glenwood, Iowa; two daughters, Marikay (and husband, Jack) Litzau of St. Paul, Minn., and Diane Canaga of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a sister.
Chaplain Joe Brown of Fremont Area Medical Center will officiate Saturday's service. Military services will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 201.
A memorial has been established to Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice.
