Jerry Wilcox
April 10, 1951 - December 29, 2025
Jerry Wilcox, 74, of Fremont, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at his home on November 29, 2025. He was born on April 10, 1951, in Fremont to Harold D. and Grace Wilcox.
A 1970 graduate of Fremont High School, Jerry was a proud member of the wrestling team, earning three varsity letters and qualifying for the state tournament. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving his country with honor.
Following his service, Jerry became a master restorative upholsterer and operated Wilcox Studio Upholstery, where he was known for his exceptional craftsmanship. He also dedicated several years to the City of Fremont, working in the Department of Utilities.
In 1970, Jerry married Vicki Stegner, and together they had one son, Dustin. Vicki passed away in 1973. In 1977, Jerry married Mary Adams, and together they raised three children. Jerry was a man of many passions-he enjoyed hunting, collecting firearms, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He especially treasured time spent with family and friends at the cabin in northeastern Nebraska.
Hardworking, determined, and endlessly resourceful, Jerry had a remarkable ability to find solutions and get things done. He passed on his trademark tenacity-what he called "the eye of the tiger"-to his children.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Vicki Stegner-Wilcox; his brother, Brownie Wilcox; and his sisters, Nancy Verbeek and Robbie Dixon.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Wilcox of Fremont; his children, Dustin (Tamara) Wilcox, Ben (Carly) Wilcox, and Abbie Wilcox, all of Fremont; his sisters, Theresa Taylor of Fremont and Lois Verbeek of Folsom, California; his grandchildren, Harlan Wilcox, Lucy Wilcox, Emmy Wilcox, Nora Wilcox, Willow Wilcox, Ivy Wilcox, Hunter Bittinger (fiancée Payci Owens), and Mallary Bittinger; his great-grandchild, Bowen Bittinger; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.
Jerry will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in all who knew and loved him.
