Kenneth L. Kinlund, age 90, of Hooper died Sunday, March 4, 2018, in the Hooper Care Center.
Ken was born Feb. 15, 1928, to Carl and Amy "Gladys" (Neal) Kinlund. He was raised on a farm near Rosalie, Nebraska. He graduated in 1945 from Rosalie High School then farmed north of Oakland. On Oct. 19, 1947, he married Joyce Claussen. Ken continued to farm in the Rosalie/Oakland area while at the same time he started working at Hormel in Fremont. The couple moved to Hooper while Ken continued working at Hormel, retiring in 1987. The couple then moved to Fremont in 2006. After Joyce died, Ken moved back to Hooper and was a resident of the Parkview Apartments until moving into the Hooper Care Center.
Ken was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Hooper Volunteer Fire Department and was a charter member of the Husker Power Club at the University of Nebraska.
Survivors include: daughters, Kathe (Chuck) Strand of Fremont and Karla (John) Foust of Fremont; son, Kurt (Jeanne) Kinlund of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Strand, Tisha (Dan Crussell) Strand, Andy (Stacy) Foust, Tara (Nate) Harper and Kenny Kinlund; and great-grandchildren, Makenna, Nolan, Gavin, Kole, Tyler, Diem, Drew.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 2011, parents and two brothers.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Bancroft Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ludvigsen's Hooper Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Hooper Care Center or TeamMates.
