OMAHA - Linda M. (Going) Williams, age 81 of Omaha died peacefully at Country House Elkhorn Saturday December 16, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.
Linda was born on July 1, 1942 to Philip and Jeanette (Woten) Going in Hooper, NE. She was baptized on July 19, 1942 and Confirmed on April 3,1955 both at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper, NE. Linda graduated from Hooper High School in 1959 at the age of 16. During her high school years Linda participated in band, cheerleading , worked cleaning a beauty parlor and as a Soda Jerk at the Dairy Bar in Hooper. After graduation she moved to Fremont and took a position as a secretary for an insurance agency, a law office and eventually ending up in the office at Hormel.
On December 7, 1962 she married Rodney (Rod) Williams of Fremont at Redeemer Lutheran in Hooper. Together they had three children, Jodi, Chris, and Andy. Linda is currently a member of Rejoice Lutheran Church where she and Rod have been members since 1996.
Linda did many things in her life from working at JC Penney to being a school secretary at two different schools and even an office manager for a few successful businesses. She even had a small "Moms Helper" business for a few years, but her main priority was always her family and her faith. Being a mother, taking care of the house and raising three kids was something she took great pride in. She was the rock of the family, she instilled in her kids those values as well as, the love of God, do the right things and have faith.
In her free time Linda enjoyed spending time with her Cronies, as she called them, gambling a little with Rod and of course Husker Athletics. She also enjoyed her antiques, shopping, and volunteering at the church teaching Sunday and Bible School or whatever was asked. She loved helping others and it gave her joy to see others happiness. She was even known to feed a stray animal or two. Of course, her biggest joy came later in life, spending time with and spoiling her eight grandchildren. They were her sunshine!
She is survived by her three children: daughter, Jodi Pelzer of Grundy Center, Iowa; sons: Chris (Michele) Williams of Ogden, Iowa, and Andy (Leslie) Williams of Valley, NE; eight grandchildren: Tyler (Alicia) Pelzer, Tanner (Emma) Pelzer, Chloe (Dalton) Laughlin, Alec, Blair and Lane Williams and Jordan and Savannah Williams as well as a great-granddaughter, Maren Pelzer.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney (Rod) Williams, her parents, and a brother.
Visitation with the family present will be from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Come dressed in a smile as Linda always received joy from others happiness. The funeral will be at 10:30am Friday, December 22, 2023 at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Omaha (2556 S. 138th St.) Interment will be at a later date in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
