Marie Ruzicka

Marie M. Ruzicka, 97, of Fremont, formerly of North Bend, passed away Jan. 2, 2017, at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont.

She was born May 7, 1919, to Ray and Hilda (Hinrichsen) Warner on their family farm located north of North Bend.

Marie grew up on the farm in North Bend. She attended District 80 School and graduated from North Bend High School in 1937. She married Emil Ruzicka on Jan. 26, 1937, and they moved to his home place 5 miles northwest of North Bend.

Marie was a member of the former United Methodist Church in North Bend and an over 50-year member of United Methodist Women at church and held all offices at church and UM Women. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge at North Bend for many years and went through all their chairs. She was an over 50-year member of ZCBJ Lodge and was in the Rawhide Extension Club for many years. Marie liked doing fancy work and playing cards. Their family received the Ak-Sar-Ben Award in September 2004. Emil passed away Nov. 16, 1991. Marie moved into North Bend in 1992.

She is survived by her sons, Emil Ruzicka (and wife, Judy) of Mesa, Ariz., Gene Ruzicka (and wife, Joyce) of North Bend, Bill Ruzicka (and wife, Donna) of Schuyler and Larry Ruzicka (and wife, Pat) of North Bend; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in law, Carolyn Ruzicka; and grandson-in-law, Jerry Zywiec.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend. The Rev. Michael McGregor of First United Methodist Church in Fremont will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., all at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery at North Bend.
