PATRICIA IRENE MONTGOMERY

1945 - 2014

Patricia Irene (Meisinger) Montgomery, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at her residence in Olathe, KS.

Pat was born on December 31, 1945, to Eugene Henry and Marie Caroline (Thomason) Meisinger in Omaha, NE.

She was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth, NE, and graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1964. She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated in May of 1968 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a focus in Mathematics.

Pat met Dale Ray Montgomery in math class while attending UNL, and they were married after graduation, on May 18, 1968, in Lincoln, NE. After they were married, Pat and Dale lived in Blue Springs, NE, where they both taught math at Wymore Southern High School in Wymore, NE. They then taught mat at Wood River High School in Wood River, NE. Pat and Dale moved to Springfield, NE, and Pat started her career at Plattsmouth Public Schools as the high school librarian. In 1973, they moved to Murray, NE, where Pat continued to serve as the librarian at Plattsmouth Highs School until her retirement in 2010. Dale and Pat finished and moved into their dream home in Nebraska City, NE, in October of 2012.

Pat was a member of the Nebraska State Education Association (NSEA), the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and Alpha Delta Kappa, the international honorary organization of women educators.

She is survived by her son: Doug Montgomery and wife Lindsey of Overland Park, KS; daughter: Anne McKim and husband Jon of Olathe, KS; granddaughter: Stella Montgomery; two sisters: Janice Steenson and husband Patrick of Wolbach, NE, Linda Ross and husband Ron of Olathe, KS; three brothers: Michael Meisinger and wife Debbie of Plattsmouth, NE, John Meisinger and wife Mary Jo of Plattsmouth, NE, Tom Meisinger and wife Judy of Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents: Eugene and Marie Meisinger; husband: Dale Montgomery; and brother: David Meisinger.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth, NE, with Pastor Jim Spanjers officiating and Connie Halouska as organist.

Visitation was from 1:00-9:00 p.m. with family receiving relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE.

Pallbearers were David Meisinger, John Meisinger, Matt Meisinger, Nathan Meisinger, Ryan Meisinger, Tom Meisinger, Erik Ross and Joe Steenson.

Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE.

The family suggests memorials to the family.
