Richard S. Raver, 79, of Bellevue died Monday, Oct. 10, 20 11, in Bellevue.
He was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Craig to George and Betty (Snare) Raver. During Richard's first six years, he lived on a small 40-acre farm just outside of Craig before moving into the Craig city limits. He received his elementary and high school education from Craig Public Schools, graduating from high school in 1950.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1956, after serving two years, he was honorably discharged and began his life's work as a public secondary teacher. He taught for a total of 35 years. During this time, he received his master of arts degree in education. Thirty of the 35 years were spent in the Bellevue secondary schools. He retired in the spring of 1992.
Survivors include: a brother, Roger Raver (and wife, Sue) of Craig; and sisters-in-law, Joyce Raver of Tekamah and Karen Raver of Cheney, Wash.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Craig with the Rev. Richard Tiggelaar officiating. Burial will be in Craig Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the Craig Community Foundation and First Presbyterian Church in Craig.
