Robert L. "Bob" Bonow, 72, of Ithaca died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at Bryan LGH West Medical Center in Lincoln.
He was born July 30, 1934, in Wahoo to Herman F. and Alice (Bergman) Bonow. He attended grade school at Weston and graduated from Wahoo High School. He married Meg Sievers on Oct. 9, 1954, in Yutan. After high school he worked at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant near Mead. They moved to California in 1957 where he worked for Boeing Aircraft, Rhikehold Chemical Co. and Lacco Lumber. In 1966, they moved back to Ithaca and he began farming in which he was still active.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Ithaca, the Saunders County Livestock Feeders Association of which he was a past board member and the Ithaca Volunteer Fire Department He served on the Green Township Board for 30 years and had served as a Farm Service Agency Committee member.
Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Kim (and husband, Mike) Fox and Diane (and husband, Charlie) Rine, all of Lincoln; a son, Rob (and wife, Laura) Bonow of Lincoln; a stepsister, Lynnette Luehr of Houston; and 10 grandchildren.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo with the Revs. Eric and Rhonda Bostrom officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church, four miles south of Ithaca, and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Ithaca.
Memorials have been established to Zion Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
