The funeral for Samuel L. Thompson, 92, of Lyons will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Lyons.
He died Friday, April 21, 2006, at Oakland Memorial Hospital in Oakland as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born July 14, 1913, in rural Lyons to Mahlon and Anna (Kroger) Thompson. He was a lifelong resident of Lyons. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1932. He attended the Farm Operators program at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He married Lillis Gene Beum on Feb. 26, 1955, in Tekamah. He was the third generation to farm the family farm, which he continued to do until the age of 92.
He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Lyons.
Survivors include: his wife, Gene; a son, Jason of Lyons; and a brother, Harold (and wife, Hazel) Thompson of Moline, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law.
The Rev. Gary Fugman will officiate Tuesday's service. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m., at Pelan Funeral Services in Oakland. Visitation also will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to First Presbyterian Church in Lyons.
