AARON JAMES "Jim" WARKENTIN

Our beloved husband and father, Jim Warkentin, passed away at age 83 on May 9, 2014. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Bob; as well as three siblings who died in childhood. He is survived by his wife, Adena Warkentin; three daughters, Wanda Warkentin, Vivian Warkentin, and Lenora Mathias; son, Kenneth Warkentin; grandchild, Alyssa Mathias; sister, Justina Glanzer of Reedley; and sons-in-law, Patrick McCarthy and Richard Mathias. Jim was born on August 13, 1930, to Aaron K. and Mary Warkentin. All the children of Aaron and Mary learned a strong work ethic on the family dairy farm in Dinuba, CA. Jim continued in the dairy business with his brother Bob until the late 1960's, when he began working for his father-in-law, Bill Wiest in the fruit-packing business. There he developed an interest in designing machinery for packing and sorting produce, eventually becoming known as an important innovator in this field, with over 20 patents to his credit. As a businessman and owner of Produce Sorters International, Jim continued to work into his early 80's. His family will always remember him for his fun sense of humor and loving soft heart. Formerly from the Reedley/Dinuba area, Jim spent his last two years with his wife in Ripon, CA.
