ADA L. MANFREDI CAVALLERO

Ada L. Manfredi Cavallero was born in Madera, CA on January 25, 1925 and passed from this life on Sunday, July 12, 2015, in Fresno, CA following a brief illness. Ada was born to Cirillo and Virginia Manfredi, Italian immigrants who settled in Madera. She attended Howard School and later graduated from Madera Union High School with the Class of 1943. Ada began a career in the wine industry which spanned 46 years. Starting in the bottling room of the Arakelian's Mission Bell Winery, until she advanced into the office and worked there until 1973, when at that time the Allied Grape Growers portion of the office relocated to Fresno and she continued to work there until her retirement in 1990. Ada continued to work part time for four years until she fully retired in 1994. Ada married the love of her life, Aldo Cavallero, on February 28, 1954, in Carmel, CA, at the old Carmel Mission, where they enjoyed returning to visit often over the years. In 1963, their son Gary was born completing their family. Ada was a devout member of St. Joachim Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Italian Catholic Federation of the parish and was a past President of the branch. She and Aldo were active in the Italo-American Club in Madera over the years, as well as the Madera Historical Society. Ada was also a former member of the Young Ladies Institute of the parish. Ada was a great ticket seller for the ICF dinners and also for The Italo American Club fundraisers. She enjoyed helping to plan for bridal showers, baby showers, and made many wedding favors for numerous weddings. In addition to her parents, Ada was preceded in death by Aldo, her husband of 52 years, in 2006; and by a baby sister Josephina. Ada is survived by her devoted son, Gary of Madera; by her beloved cousins; nephews and nieces, and their families. Visitation will be held at Jay Chapel on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Madera, CA, on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. The Service will conclude at St. Joachim's Church. Entombment will be private at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
