Alberta Beale Obituary

Alberta Ann Beale

December 17, 1936 - February 11, 2024

Portland, Oregon - Alberta Beale, one of the original faculty members of Fresno's McLane High School, died Feb. 11 in Portland. She was 87.

Alberta was the daughter of Alex and Katie (Ruppel) Bier and a graduate of Roosevelt High School and with honors from Fresno State College, where she majored in mathematics and minored in chemistry.

She taught at McLane from 1960 to 1964 before leaving teaching for the fledgling computer industry, where she was a programmer in a career that spanned over 40 years and took her on projects across the United States.

She and her husband, Richard, were avid bicyclists and rode tandem throughout the West Coast and to Europe where their travels included trips through the countrysides of France and Ireland.

Alberta is survived by her son Jay of Virginia, her daughter Susan of Portland and Denver, a grandson, Vaughn, of Virginia; her brother, Gerald and his wife Charleen; her niece Lisa of Roseville and nephew Jeffrey of Kentucky, and many grand nephews and nieces.

Private remembrances have been held. The family request any remembrances be made to the donor's favorite charity.
