DR. ALVIN A. KRUM

Dr. Alvin Krum, age 85, a former resident of Sanger, CA passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014, in Little Rock, AR. He was born on May 14, 1928, in Fresno, CA, to the late Andrew and Margaret Krum. Alvin attended Sanger schools and finished high school in 1946. He was very athletic and lettered in varsity sports of baseball, basketball, and tennis. He attended and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1954, he married Joyce Carter of Sanger, and they had two children, Jeffery Krum of Kansas City, MO, and Judith Krum of Phoenix, AZ. Following a period of separation, this marriage ended in 1980. He married Glenda Lipke in 1981. Dr. Krum served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After finishing his Army service, he returned to school and received his Ph.D. in physiology. The family then moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, and he became a professor of physiology and taught medical students at the University of Arkansas School of Medicine for thirty years. During this time, he was also engaged in medical research and had much of it published. He is survived by Glenda, his loving wife of 33 years; his son, Jeffery Krum and Jeff's wife Kimberly; daughter, Judith Krum;, brother, Eugene Krum and Eugene's wife Nancy of Fresno; niece, Janice Krum Cook of Granite Bay, CA; nephew, Richard Krum of Fresno; grandchildren, Lauren, Melinda and Jordan; step-children, Hollye Hahn of Oak Harbor, WA, Michael Lipke of San Diego, and Tammy Lipke of Denton, TX; grandchildren, Natalie, Nina, Stuart, and Samuel; and a host of extended family and friends. He was extremely proud of and dedicated to his family and was deeply loved, honored, and cherished by all of his loved ones. Services were held at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Little Rock, AR on May 13, 2014.
