Anthony Costa Obituary

ANTHONY COSTA "No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever." Jerancois Mauriac Anthony Costa, of Fresno, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2003, after a difficult battle with lung cancer. He was 75. Costa, born in Fresno, lived and worked in a variety of California cities including Vallejo, Sac- ramento, Morgan Hill and San Pablo, before returning to live in his native Fresno twenty years ago. A retired District Principal Auditor who had enjoyed a long and successful career with the California State Board of Equalization, Mr. Costa had, in retirement, also represented taxpayers as a licensed Enrolled Agent. As a young man he had served both in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army. In his spare time Mr. Costa enjoyed tending a fruit and vegetable garden, rebuilding cars, reading, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. "His loving and honest nature will be sorely missed by all who knew him." Anthony is survived by his wife Antonia of Fresno; children, Michelle Costa of Cambria, Kim Costa of Oakland, and Kevin Costa of Gilroy; six grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, and ten brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and by his youngest daughter, Valerie L. Costa, who died in a 1982 plane crash. A Celebration of Costa's life was held Friday, May 23, 2003 at Northwest Chapel, under the direction of Serenity Funeral Services. Burial will take place privately at Mount Hope Cemetery, in Morgan Hill, within the next few weeks. Those wishing to honor Mr. Costa's memory may make donations to the American Cancer Society.
