Was told God works in mysterious ways, well, as a young 10th grader at RHS studying journalism, I covered those great Edison teams Mr. Barnett was on. I never met him, but saw him play. He left a lasting impression on me as to how he handled the opponents cheering section, so COOL, in control. I wasn't aware David had passed, I just happened to be visiting my mom @ Belmont Memorial and recognized the name. OMG..over 50 years later I believe I was brought there from a higher source. What an honor.

My heartfelt condolences to Bob and the entire Barnett family. I attended Fresno State with Dave in the 70s and often talked about basketball at the student center. Dave was a great basketball player and would show case his skills while playing pickup games in the old Bulldog gym. Outstanding basketball player at Edison High and Fresno City College. Dave has left a tremendous void with both family members and friends... will be missed immensely. May he rest in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.

My condolences to Bob and the entire Barnett family on the passing of Dave. I attended Fresno State in the 70s and attended class with Dave where we developed a friendship. We often hung out at the student center and conversed on basketball. We also played a few pickup games in the Bulldog old gym, where Dave would showcase his skills. Dave had a love for the game of basketball and was an outstanding layer at both Edison High and Fresno City College. Dave left a huge void with his family and friends... will be missed immensely. May he rest in peace with the Lord Jesus, your friend Rick Rodriguez.
