Since Debbie's passing I can't tell you how many times I have looked over my Facebook memories and noticed that almost every post I made she had a comment or detailed response ever since I reconnected with her through the Facebook medium. We met for breakfast one morning and I had written her a poem and gave her a bracelet I made as I knew she had been going through some painful times.
"Love Me, for Deb" By Robin G. Easley
Quietly Broken
I weep all alone
So much to do
Before I go home.
Grief overwhelms me
The pain just won't stop.
But I must be strong
So I work till I drop.
Just got a sign
My ring came back, you see
Letting me know
HE will always love me
Accomplishments matter
But why can't there be
Peace in my heart
Now that she's finally free?
Sunsets awake me
Since dark's not my friend
Need to call someone
To make this pain end.
Got to find purpose
Who'll love me for me
Not as Miss Perfect
Just me being me.
His love abounds
Just like mom's loving me
Signs for direction
Clear path sets me free.
I have a Savior
Who always loves me
Just as I am
Just being me.
Is that enough?
Yes just wait and see.
I felt that she needed to talk and my poem was my vision of what I felt she was feeling. She was so smart and beautiful inside and out. Can't wait to see her again!

Debbie and I have known each other since high school at Sanger high and then reconnected during our early 20's working together at Gandoff's in Fresno. Our recent connect has spanned the last 9 years through Facebook and at Sanger Ladies Luncheons. We had some deep meaningful exchanges that made our lives richer through our time spent discussing things that mattered and memories from the past. I will miss her but know that peace is now hers!

I first met Debbie in the 7th grade at Centerville School and we have been friends ever since. Early memories: her love of the Beatles, our Centerville softball team, performing "By the Sea" at the Centerville Follies, getting driving lessons from Debbie at their ranch and an afternoon working the cucumbers in a packing shed. Even though we didn’t see one another often over the years due to geographical differences, we stayed in touch - and it was always fun to catch up again in person. Debbie was one of the last friends I saw before the 2020 covid shutdown and I had just been thinking it was time to call to go to lunch again when I got the sad news of her passing. My deepest sympathy to Debbie’s family. She was a treasured friend who will always be in my heart.
