Earlene McBride Obituary

EARLENE BATES McBRIDE Earlene passed away on Friday, November 18, 2005, in Clovis, CA. She was a former Internal Revenue Service Tax Examiner. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold D. McBride in 1979; her parents; sisters Velma and Altha; and brother Carl. The family would like to thank Chandra Raj of Rosemary Homes in Clovis, Dr. Dan Borgstadt, the staff at St. Agnes Medical Center, especially the Social Services Department, and the staff at Nancy Hinds Hospice for their care and concern. She was a member and officer of the Alpha Omicron sorority for many years and a member of the Bulldog Foundation. She was an avid football and basketball fan including traveling with her Bulldogs to out-of-town games. She went to New York for the NIT and Hawaii for the Aloha Bowl, and to Los Angeles for the Freedom Bowl. Mrs. McBride was born in California Hot Springs, and attended California Hot Springs School and Porterville High School. At the age of 17, she received the Medal of Valor for rescuing two drowning victims from the California Hot Springs swimming pool. She joined with four other women and moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the War Department in 1942, where she was able to complete her studies independently and received her high school diploma. She met and married her future husband Harold, then moved to Sacramento, CA in 1955, and to Clovis in 1969. She left behind her sisters, Mattie Brooks of Gold River, CA, and Alice Clayton and her husband Gene of Sacramento, CA; her brother, Merrill Bates and his wife Marylou of California Hot Springs, CA; daughters, Marilyn Keck and her husband Glenn Keck of Henderson, NV, Darlylee Mansell of Folsom, CA, Melissa Kane and her husband Tom of Clovis, and Leslie McBride of Clovis; grandchildren, Beth Rabenneak and Elaine Keever of Hendron, NV, Suzi Huettmann of Stillwater, OK, Jim Kane of Clovis, Amy Sanctuary of Orangevale, CA, and Megan Henderson of Orangevale, CA; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation with be held at Boice Funeral Home on Monday, November 21, 2005, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Riverpark Bible Church, on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Belmont Memorial Park. I was saddened to recently learn of Earlene's passing. I worked with her for many years at the IRS. I still have the souvenir she brought back for me from the FSU Bulldogs NIT championship in New York ... a game she attended with her good buddy Marge Force. RIP....
