We are blessed to have met Ed Janzen when three of our children attended Immanuel High School. Men like Ed are far and few these days. What a wonderful role-model and mentor not only to the IHS students, but to their folks as well. He led a life well-lived. Thank you so very much Ed!

I knew Ed first as a walking companion in the Lakes community where we both took daily walks. We had a lot of common interest in the CVC Imannuel games. He was a true christian man who showed the love of Christ the way he lived and the concern he had for others. My prayer is for Marilyn to find comfort and peace in her Lord and Savior

I was a student at Immanuel when Mr. Janzen was superintendent. One of my best memories was when he took the 4 of us co-valedictorian/salutatorians out for lunch at the Bear Club. We had an amazing time of fellowship and sharing. His love for students, Immanuel, and the Lord was evident, and I am blessed to have known him.
He truly was a servant of the Lord.

We were very saddened o learn of Ed's passing. How well we remember when he first arrived in Orosi to begin his teaching career there. He possessed a dry sense of humor and he was loved and admired by his former students and colleagues. We extend our deepest sympathy to Marilyn and their family.

Ed was a true mentor and a great friend. He exemplified a Christ-like model in his leadership style:
=He made every person (including his students) feel that they were a valued and important part of the team.
=He corrected (when necessary) with love.
=He motivated with kind, encouraging, and uplifting words.
=He worked tirelessly.....always serving others before himself.

It is comforting for us to know that Ed has already heard these words: "Very well done, my good and faithful servant."

We will never forget Ed Janzen's legacy.

My heart goes out to Marilyn and family. While I didn't know Ed as well as Marilyn, I knew him to be a dedicated Christian, husband, father, and educator. The southern San Joaquin Valley is a better place because of all he gave. My prayer is that you will all know the loving comfort of resting gently in the hands of our Lord and Savior.

Marilyn-
I so appreciate all the hard work and love you and Ed had for Immanuel. His dedication to God and his work here was obvious. Those of us who are have been at Immanuel for the long haul appreciated Ed's vision and leadership. Thanks Marilyn for sharing Ed with us. God bless you as you travel God's journey without Ed. There are many who love and support you. And, our God is great and good. Love. Don & Nancy Knaak

Dear Janzen family, thank you for sharing your husband/ father with us. Mr. Janzen was the Superintendent at IHS while I was there. My Senior year I spent almost as much time in his office as I did in class! Whenever I was bored in class I would tell the teacher I needed to go see Mr. Janzen. I was bored a lot! We had many great talks about school, life, faith and the way we should live our lives. We shared a lot of laughs also. He was so easy to speak with. He had a big impact on my life and holds a special place in my heart. Thanks again for sharing him.

It was my privilege to teach at Immanuel High School when Ed was the superintendent. Teaching under him was an absolute joy, and I am still benefitting from his tenure to this day. He loved God, he loved Immanuel and he loved the students. Ed was respected and trusted by the faculty, the students and the Immanuel community. He (and Marilyn) cared about me and my family. He will be greatly missed.

Ed hired me at Immanuel in 1993. His friendliness was contagious and his love for the Lord was ferocious. He made me feel welcome and important. He always greeted students and faculty with a great smile and cared about us with amazing sincerity. We faculty types at Immanuel sat around last week and told "our favorite Ed Janzen stories". God blessed us greatly with his life and influence and left an impression for generations to come.

Ed Janzen was a special friend to our family. I remember how our family struggled financially when Brad was sick and received a liver transplant. We had one son at Immanuel and didn't know how we would pay for that with Brad off work for an extended time. Ed told us the tuition was taken care of so we need not worry! This still brings tears to my eyes that someone would care for us when we needed help. So, we have supported Immanuel since then to give back to that community. Ed always encouraged our children to excel and achieve their educational goals. He was a great friend and leaves a great legacy of leadership for us to emulate. He loved his family dearly. We will miss him, but he has left a huge footprint on the lives of many students that he nurtured.

Ed and Marilyn are a terrific couple. Ed took a chance on me by offering me a teaching position at Immanuel straight out of college. He saw much more in me than I could ever imagine. He was a true leader and motivator of the people he worked with and for. He inspired people to be better and work harder for the students in our classrooms. Long after he left Immanuel he still found a way to encourage me even if our conversations were brief and infrequent. Ed's passion for education and Immanuel was a big reason why I taught there for many years. Ed will definitely be missed, but the influence and impact he has had on so many people will continue for generations to come.

What an incredible light Ed was to this world. Met Ed at Neighborhood where he served as the best greeter ever! He welcomed all with that great smile and warm heart of his. We know he had many health issues these past years that may have slowed him down, but he never lost the ability to light the path for those he encountered. Thank you Ed for always brightening our day whenver we saw you. Will sure miss you Ed, but we know that you are rejoiceing and singing in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We'll expect to see Ed standing at those beautiful pearly gates as we make our grand entrance someday...until we meet again dear friend. XO
