ELIZABETH MCMURTRY Obituary

Betty McMurtry passed away peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2010, she was 80 years old. She was born on March 31, 1930, in Pennsylvania, to parents Gio and Farley Lassotovitch. Betty's mom and dad moved from Pennsylvania to the Watts Valley Ranch in Fresn County when she was one year old. Her dad called her his little cowgirl. She was horseback at the age of 12 helping her dad work cattle on his ranch. She married Clyde McMurtry in 1970, and in 1971, they bought a cattle ranch in LeGrand and lived there for the rest of her life. At the time of her marriage, Clyde had a High Mt. Cattle permit at Sample Meadow Kaiser Pass Area. She spent many summers at the cow camp. That was one of her greatest loves, riding The High Mts. working and gathering cattle before the snowfall. Betty was an accomplished horse person, loved riding good cow horses, and always has good working cattle dogs. She had a large yard and lots of colorful flowers. She started a business called The McMurtry Irises, Cannas and Day Lillies. She sold the business to The Lone Oak Irises in Friant. She was a mom who worked hard taking care of her boy that loved her. She touched many with her love of life, but enjoyed the simple things of life. She was active in what matters the most and never complained in what needed to be done. We has lost a friend, a mother and a wife. She will always be in our hearts. Betty is survived by her husband, Clyde McMurtry of 40 years; three sons, Mike, Steve, and Dan Ryan; brother Sasha Lassotovitch of Reedley; sisters, Nancy Lassotovitch of Menlo Park, and Virginia Gatti of Van Nuys. Family and friends are invited to attend a Service at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 13145 Le Grand Rd, Le Grand, Ca. on Monday, November 22, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. CLOVIS FUNERAL CHAPEL 1302 Clovis Avenue Clovis, Ca (559)298-7536
