ERVIN NEBELSICK Obituary

On Friday, April 21, 2017, we lost our family patriarch. Ervin H. Nebelsick passed away peacefully at the age of 93, with his family at his bedside. Ervin was born in Talmage, NE, on November 21, 1923, to his parents, Henry and Mary Nebelsick. He was raised on a farm with his brother, Ralph, and sister Gladys. Ervin honed his hunting, fishing and trapping skills at a young age along the banks of the Nemaha River. He graduated from Chillicothe Business School and then moved to Winslow, AZ, where he started working for the Santa Fe Railroad. In December of 1944, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served in the infantry in Italy in World War II. He emerged as a decorated lieutenant. Upon his return to Winslow, he met the love of his life, Mary Edna McDaniel. They were married in 1948, for 63 glorious years. They started their family in 1949, with the birth of their first daughter, Marsha. After moving to San Francisco, CA, their second daughter, Debbie, was born in 1952. They moved to Fresno, CA in 1953. Ervin became a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he served as head elder for many years. He retired in 1985, after a 43 year career with the Santa Fe Railroad. The couple moved from Fresno to Heber City, UT in 1996. Ervin returned to Fresno in 2016, where he resided at Paintbrush Assisted Living Center. Ervin loved golfing, tennis, bowling, gardening and woodworking. His love of nature, the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers gave him great pleasure. He devoted his life to his family and his faith. He was an example of strength, patience and kindness. He will be missed, but his bountiful spirit and sense of humor will live on in the hearts of his family. We love you. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Edna; his parents; and his brother, Ralph Nebelsick. He is survived by his two daughters, Marsha Easley and her husband Terry, and Debbie Elvington and her husband Dan; two grandchildren, Erin Dye and her husband Noah, Tyler Easley and wife Megan; three great- granddaughters, Emily, Sophia and Harper; sister, Gladys Wellsandt; in-laws; and nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fresno, CA, at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon to follow.

Marsha and Debbie, Your father was a wonderful special man. I always liked him and his ready smile. I have fond memories of him. He reminded me of my dad. May your memories and God's love comfort you.
Love to you and your family.
