Henrietta Brandon Obituary

Henri passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Nancy Hinds Hospice with her loving husband and two daughters by her side. She was diagnosed with cancer only seven weeks previously.

Henri was born in Greeley, Colorado, on June 20, 1925, the only child of Henry and Edith Magnuson. When Henri was of school age they left the area and moved to Hanford where she started first grade. In 1943 she graduated from Hanford High School and soon thereafter entered Fresno State College where she enjoyed membership in Delta Mu Phi which later merged with the national sorority, Phi Mu. In 1948 she graduated from Fresno State with a teaching credential and taught in the Fresno Unified School District for the next 37 years. Upon retiring in 1985, she became president of the Tokalon Alumni Association, an organization that gives scholarships to upper division and graduate women at Fresno State University. She and Harold Samuel Brandon were married in 1952 and were blessed with their two loving daughters, Lisa and Jill.

Henri was a kind and caring person who cherished her family and friends, and especially enjoyed world travel and skiing, never missing a winter on the slopes. Last winter she had the distinction most surely of being the oldest female skier at Badger Pass. She also enjoyed her many summers living in Yosemite and Mt. Rainer National Parks where her husband, Hal, worked as a seasonal park ranger.

Henri is survived by her husband, Hal, of Fresno; and her two daughters, Lisa Myers and her husband, Todd, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jill Muttersbach and her husband, Tyler, of Aptos, California; and two wonderful grandchildren, Hannah and Blake Myers of Raleigh, North Carolina.

There will be no memorial service but in her memory donations may be made to Nancy Hinds Hospice, 1416 West Twain, Fresno, Ca., 93711-3014.
