Hunter Oldham Obituary

Mrs. Oldham was born on December 23, 1921. She passed away on Wednes-day, January 2, 2008. She was the daughter of Hunter Joel and Sabra Simpson who predeceased her. She was raised and went to school in Chatham, Virginia and attended some college in the area before striking out to California in 1945 just prior to the end of the war. She was living and working in Fresno when she met the love of her life, Louis Joe Oldham, whom she married on May 7, 1948, in a small ceremony in Reno Nv. They made their home in the Easton area. Hunter was an accountant for several construction firms in the Fresno area until she retired in 1986 to be a vinyardist. She also started one of the only buffalo ranches in the Easton area with a herd of 20 to 25 buffalo during her retirement. She traveled extensively up until her final trip to Virginia for a family reunion last October of 2007. Hunter was a member of American Legion Auxilliary and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Easton. Joe preceded her in death, as did her brother, Vernon Pete Simpson. She is survived by her sister, Annette Smith of Spartansburg, S.C.; and her children, Joseph Oldham and his wife Donna of Coasregold, John Oldham of Bakersfield, Martha Smith and her husband Don of Cleveland, Ohio and Richard Oldham and his wife Shelly of Easton. She is survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandkids. Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Monday, January 7, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Easton on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Washington Colony Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in her name. LISLE FUNERAL HOME 1605 L Street Fresno, Ca. (559) 266-0666
