Irving Raven Obituary

IRVING EUGENE RAVEN June 9, 1930 April 7, 2007 Irving was born in Fresno, California, to Jeppe and Alma Raven on June 9, 1930. He passed away at his home on Saturday, April 7, 2007, at the age of 76. Irving was a very proud grape grower in the Selma/Easton area all of his life. Irving served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict from 1951 to 1953. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he was awarded the following medals in recognition of his duty: (1) Korea Service Medal with three bronze stars, (2) Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant, and (3) United Nations Service Medal. He returned to the family farm to continue doing what he best loved to do. Many times he would describe farming his vineyard as more of a hobby to him, even though it was his livelihood. One thing you could always count on about Irv.....you could always find him "out standing in his field". Special thank-you's go to Dr. William O. Owen and the Saint Agnes Hospice. Irving is survived by Erma Lee Raven, his loving and devoted wife of 54 years of Fresno; his son, Marvin Keith Raven of Fresno; and his daughter, Cheryl Lynn Swanson and her husband, Fred H. Swanson of Kingsburg. Visitation will be held at Wallin's Fowler Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Wallin's Fowler Funeral Home, 302 E. Merced Street in Fowler on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. Interment is to follow at Washington Colony Cemetery in Easton. Remembrances may be made to St. Agnes Hospice, 1111 E. Spruce, Fresno, CA 93710. WALLIN FUNERAL HOMESFowler, CA 834-2531
