James Lee Verwer

JAMES LEE VERWER James Lee Verwer passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the age of 67. He is preceded in death by his father William, his mother Helene, and sister, Mary Rita Gann. Jim graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School in 1957 and attended Fresno State College. He was an avid bulldog football fan. After serving in the United States Coast Guard, Jim started his banking career of 42 years in the San Joaquin Valley with a special interest in agriculture. Jim was also a grape and almond grower in the northwest Fresno area. Over the years, Jim was active in many civic organizations and was a member of the San Joaquin Country Club. His family, farming his land and trout fishing gave him great pleasure. He is survived by Jequita, his wife of 44 years; daugh- ters, Sandra McKenzie and Tamera Fox; son-in-law, Terry McKenzie; five grandchildren, Casey and Lindsay McKenzie, and Payton, Clayton and Sarah Fox; sister, Patricia Verwer; three nieces and two nephews; and his godson, Michael Deubert II. Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
