JANICE NEARY

A life led of service to others, Janice Neary was born in New Britain, CT, on August 14, 1937, and peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the age of 80. She unconditionally devoted herself to family, friends, career, community, and service to God. Janice graduated from Newington High School in Connecticut in 1955, and Bates College in Maine, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1959. Her most treasured life moments involved raising her son, Brian, and daughter Peggy. She was immensely proud of who they had become as adults. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandsons, Chad and Jacob, and actively participating in their lives. Janice's smile was contagious and her quick wit captured the hearts of all she encountered. Janice and her family moved from Syracuse, NY, to Fresno in 1978. In 1979, Janice joined Clovis Community Bank, later renamed Central Valley Community Bank as the founding executive secretary to the board and President. Her professional dedication was rare and unmatched. She formally retired in 2002, yet continued at the bank part-time through 2015. Prior to and continuing after her "retirement," Janice traveled the world, visiting six continents and over 20 countries. Janice loved music and theater. She was also a firm believer in continuing education, no matter how old you are, and attended Fresno State's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy King and her husband Chuck; and her son, Brian Neary and his life partner, Jalee Furr. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Chad and Jacob King; as well as her sister, Kathy Lamb; nephews, Keith, Jeff, and Jim Lamb, and their families; and many, many friends.
