JOAQUIN MACIEL Obituary

He was born in Selma on March 4, 1930, raised in Madera by Joaquin and Soledad Maciel Sr., where he met the love of his life, Helen. They were married in 1952 and shared 59 wonderful years. Kino was a hard working truck driver all of his life and worked over the years at G & J Pistachio, Hydro Conduit and Pink City companies. Kino loved baseball and was a little league coach for the Palm Shields league and the Babe Ruth league. He followed the Fresno Grizzlies and was a die hard San Francisco Giants fan. He was also a troop leader for his two sons in the Cub Scouts. After his retirement, Kino kept busy on his daughter Sally's yard, mowing, pruning and helping his son-in-law Joe. He had a gift for gardening and now God has a handy Angel on duty. The family would like to thank the staff at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fresno, especially Dr. John Gasman and Fr. Michael Burchfield of St. Therese Parish. Kino is survived by his wife Helen; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Joe Duflot; sons, Richard Maciel and Timothy Maciel; grandchildren, Clinton, Jessica and Mateo; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Marshall and Beck; sisters, Mary, Ida, Margaret, Mary Lou, Helen, Connie, Josie and Lorrie; brother Robert; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Farewell on Friday, December 16, 2011, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Children's Hospital Central California Foundation, 9300 Valley Children's Place, Madera, Ca. 93636
