JUNE ELETHA OPIE

June Eletha Opie passed away and was transported into the loving arms of the Lord on Thursday, July 8, 2010. This followed an arduous battle with lymphoma cancer, which also took the life of her spouse and beloved husband, Charles C. Opie, in August of 2005. June was born in El Centro, California on June 1, 1925. She was a stellar student and multi-talented musician who performed for many years as a soprano soloist, a violinist, pianist and church organist. She attended Southern California Bible College where she met Charles a graduate and ultimately ordained minister. They were pastors for 25 years in both Indiana and Southern California. During her years of serving in the churches of these areas, she was also a secretary for Corporate Presidents and Chief Administrators of several organizations. In recent years, June became known to the Fresno retirement community as a pianist who performed regularly in homes for residents of these facilities. Well into her eighties, she exuded an exceptional love and zeal while presenting her musical performances. This was no surprise, for in all phases of her life, she touched the lives of many people. She has left a beautiful legacy for her family that will last, far into the future. June's family carries forward many talents and attributes that were bestowed by June all through her life and they will all miss her greatly. June is survived by her only son, Charles Stanford Opie, an insurance executive and musician. He resides in McKinney, Texas with his wife Peta, two granddaughters, Kristin B. Opie and Brooke N. Ragusa and her husband Dan. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Peoples Church in the GL Johnson Chapel on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Belmont Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m. WHITEHURST Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home 1525 E.
