I was Keith Winkler’s kid-sister-in-law, having first met him in the late 1960s, when he fell in love with my big sister, Donna. I knew then that he had good judgment. Ever welcoming and tolerant, he let me visit them often at Cal Poly, when he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, and where the young couple explored and fell in love with every nook and cranny of the lovely coastal area. Visiting them was to be steeped in adventure and love, an attitude Keith maintained when at last their trusty Morris Minor landed them, baby on board, in Armona, next stop Hanford, Donna’s (and my) hometown. All of Kings County was by then benefitting from Keith’s reliability, expertise in his field, and concern for the health of all. The manner in which he did so was not only professional, but delightfully, quintessentially British.

I had the pleasure of knowing Keith, first as a client and later as a respected friend and mentor. I'm saddened to read of his passing. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Keith dedicated his life to serving the community. He was recognized throughout California as a leader in the fields of environmental and public health. Keith will be sorely missed by family and friends.
