Lillian Baird Obituary

LILLIAN MARY BAIRD Apr 17, 1914 - Dec 3, 2003 Born in Oakland to William Alberti Sturgeon and Lillian Mary (Salter) Sturgeon, Lillian moved to Fresno with her family in 1920. She married Richard St. George Baird in 1933, and continued to live in their family home in Fresno until 1997, when she moved to the Bethesda Christian Retirement Cen ter in Hayward to be nearer her children. Lillian was a choir member and Elder at First Presbyterian Church and Calvary Presbyterian Church, both in Fresno. She was also very active in the California Medical Assistants Association and held many offices in that organization at both the local and state level. For many years she was the Office Manager for Dr. Wilkinson, a local surgeon. Lillian was a life member of Eastern Star. Lillian is survived by two sons, Richard Baird of Foster City, and Thomas Baird and his wife Kathy of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Kristen Doherty and her husband Steve of Menlo Park, David Baird of Woodland Hills, Sidney Squire and her husband Stephen of Walnut Creek, and Eric Baird and his fiance Kim of Dublin; and four great-grandchildren, Emily and Katelyn Doherty, and Seth and Sabastian Squire. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Richard, in 1991; and her daughter Jillian in 1990. The family will hold a Private Service to honor her life. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that gifts in Lillian's memory be made to Bethesda Christian Retirement Center, 22427 Montgomery Street, Hayward, CA 94541.
