Ludwig Kiramidjian Obituary

LUDWIG KIRAMIDJIAN, SR. Ludwig died peacefully in his San Francisco home on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at the wonderful age of 102. He was born near Fresno on a family farm to Misak and Jemima (Azhderian) Kiramidjian on July 26, 1905. He was an extraordinary man who experienced a beautiful life of devotion to family. He worked on the family farm until 1938. His love of electronics lead him to an electrician job at Hammer Field Air Base from 1940 to 1942 and 1945 to 1946. Later he worked as an electrician-radio technician at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1946 until retirement in 1973. A WWII Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and France where he was awarded the Legion of Merit. From youth Ludwig was fascinated by ham radio and could often be heard on the air by his call letters "W6REZ". A man of many talents, he enjoyed creating various forms of artwork. He was grateful to God for his long life, happy marriage, home and many other blessings. He loved life to the fullest, and we will always love his memory. Ludwig is survived by Maritza, his wife of 61 years; son and daughter-in-law, Lud Jr. and Lorraine Kiramidjian; daughter and son-in-law, Veronica and Greg Bottini; sister, Zabelle Melkonian; brother, Vahram Kiramidjian; and many loving nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Yost & Webb Funeral Home, 1002 T Street, Fresno, on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at 11:00 a.m.

Mr. Kiramidjian,
Sir, I didn't know you, but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I already feel the absence of Ludwig Senior in my life. It is so strange to find him gone, yet what a wonderful, rich and remarkable life he was given!
He not only survived some of this world's most difficult events, but he actually thrived among them, demonstrating both his artistic talent and his gift for invention.
I am grateful for his life, and for his being given the blessing of remaining in his own home among loved ones to the very end of his days.
