MARY KUYKENDALL Obituary

Marie was born in Seminole, OK on January 15, 1928, to Wilson and Willie Bradshaw. She was the first girl. She had four older brothers and three younger sisters. Marie passed away on June 13, 2014, at the age of 86 in Fresno, CA. When she was nine years old Wilson and Willie packed up all their belongings and moved their family to Bakersfield, CA. There she spent her childhood with older brothers Ray and Herman along with younger sisters Christine, Edith and Barbara Bradshaw. At an early age she started working at various grocery stores in Bakersfield. She married Everett Miller and they had a daughter Linda. Several years after she became a widow and was working at Green Frog Market she met Hamp Kuykendall. They married on March 2, 1958. Due to a job change they moved to Fresno. They were blessed with daughter Patti, and son Eddie. Hamp and Marie lived in their Fresno home for 52 years. After Hamp passed away in 2012 Marie moved to Palm Village in Reedley, CA. Marie was very competitive. In her younger years you could find her on the softball field. She also was an avid bowler and made many lifelong bowling friends. In her later years you could find her on the golf course. When Hamp and Marie traveled they usually took their golf clubs. She was always in the stands watching her kids and grandkids play various sports. Marie is preceded in death by her husband Hamp; her parents; and four brothers. She leaves behind two daughters, Linda Lewis and her husband Barry, and Patti Parham and her husband Steve; her son, Eddie Kuykendall and his wife Holly. Her pride and joy grandchildren, Erik Lewis and his wife Erin, Amy Dritsas and her husband Eric, Matthew Parham and his wife Elyse, and Stephanie Hanson and her husband Jeff; five great-grandchildren, Madilynn Lewis, McKade Lewis, Aubrey Hanson, Alayna Hanson, Amelia Parham and one little boy on the way, Sawyer Parham; and three sisters, Christine Keathley, Edith Terrill, and Barbara Womack. Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on June 19, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on June 20, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Palm Village Retirement Community, Living Legacy, 703 West Herbert Ave. Reedley, CA 93654 or Saint Agnes Heart Foundation, 1303 E. I have such fond memories of the Kuykendall family loving on me from the time I was a little girl. I remember many sleepovers with my best friend Patti, hanging out with big sister Linda and playing with Eddie. I remember Marie coming to cheer us on when we played softball and volleyball in GAA. This family is part of the reason I am what I am today, a pastor's wife, because they took me to church with them. I accepted Jesus as my savior with Patti by my side at Pioneer Girls at the Mennonite church near their home. Then attended Sunday School and church with the family at Olivet Baptist Church. I'm so grateful that God saw fit to bless my life with the whole Kuykendall family. I am praying for His comfort and peace for all and praising God that the whole family will be reunited for all eternity in Heaven. Sending love and hugs to you all.
