MINA CANFIELD

Mina Canfield was born on August 3, 1935, in Fresno, CA and passed away peacefully in Fresno, CA on Friday, August 28, 2015, surrounded by family. Mina grew up and attended schools in Fresno, graduating from California State University, Fresno, in 1957. She taught Kindergarten and First Grade for Fresno Unified School District for 25 years. While teaching at Roeding Elementary School, she met her husband Bob. They were married in 1958, and spent 57 happy years together. Mina was active in Friends Community Church, the Sisters in Service, and many other charities. From childhood she had a passion for dancing and continued to take classes over the years from David Bonetto, and participate with dance groups entertaining seniors. She and Bob enjoyed many years of sailing with the Fresno Yacht Club. Mina loved most to garden, her family, and her little dog Wiley. Her kind heart and giving way, always thinking of others first, is what those who knew her will remember. Mina was preceded in death by her husband Bob; and her parents, Richard and Frances Cornelius. She is survived by sons, Steve and his wife Jacquie, and Rick and wife Ann; and grandchildren, Dylan, Ashley, and Thomas. The family is holding a private memorial service. Remembrances may be made to Friends Community Church; Valley Animal Center; or any local no kill animal shelter.
