NANCY SCIACQUA Obituary

Heaven welcomed another angel when Nancy Jean Sciacqua joined her Lord on Thursday, July 1, 2010, after a long-term illness. Always more concerned with others than herself, Nancy endured her battle with courage and grace. Nancy was born in Sanger, Ca. on July 3, 1928, to Jack and Bertha Farnesi. After graduating from Sanger High, Nancy entered Fresno State College where she majored in Physical Education and joined the Delta Zeta Sorority. For the remainder of her life, Nancy was a dedicated D.Z. 'sister' and very involved in sorority activities. Upon leaving Fresno State, Nancy began her career in education. In short time, she was a P.E. teacher and cheer coach at Central High School. Her hard work and dedication to the students of Central High led to her being named Activities Director, the position from which she retired in 1992. During her 32 years at the high school, she touched the lives of hundreds of young people, many of whom remained friends long after they graduated. Fresno State was also where Nancy met the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Al Sciacqua. Nancy and Al were an accomplished team on the dance floor and she enjoyed accompanying him to all his "gigs". Her other great passions were her children and grandchildren, who also love their Noni. She is survived by Al, her loving husband; her devoted children, Danny and his wife Nancy, Nanelle and her husband Art, and Larry and his wife Jackie; her brother, Dan Farnesi. She will also be terribly missed by her six grandchildren, Carly and Tyler Sciacqua, Jordan and Kyle Davis, and Nick and Alexis Sciacqua. A Funeral Service will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic Church of Fresno, 4636 W. Dakota Ave., Fresno Ca. 93722. I was so sorry to hear of Mrs. Sciacqua's passing, not only do I have so many fun memories of her being our Cheer Advisor at Central High but she was also one of my dear friends mother and so was blessed to know her on two different levels. In the past few years I got to see her at church and tried to always make it a point to go up and give her a hug. She lived a long happy life God bless her and your family.

May your family find comfort in knowing how much "Mrs. Sciacqua" was loved and admired. She was an amazing Leadership Coach, Cheer Advisor and Mentor. I learned a lot from her and think of her often while raising my three children. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Mrs Sciacqua was my PE teacher at Washington Jr High.
She was a beautiful lady and wonderful teacher.
My condolences to her family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sciacqua family at this time of great loss. I first met Nancy in 1958 when I was a student at what is now El Capitan Jr. High and had Al as one of my teachers. Then on to Central, and Nancy was my P.E. teacher. She always went above and beyond in her teaching career. Later, when I taught in Central Unified for over 30 years, Nancy was still on staff and I always enjoyed seeing her at district events. She will be missed!

Mrs. Sciaqua was my favorite teacher in high school. Although that was 24 years ago, I still smile when I think of her and how much fun we had being a part of the pep squads that she coached. She had a great impact on my leadership skills and confidence! She will be missed, and will always be remembered fondly by Central alumni! Thoughts and prayers to the family.
