PAUL DIENER Obituary

August 15, 1940 February 26, 2010 The Diener family has lost one of its kindest and most lovable members to the injustices of cancer. Our adored father, brother, pa'Paul, and uncle peacefully faded away in Palm Springs, Ca., after a valiant effort against this formidable disease. Paul was born in Glendale, Ca., but was taken home to the family ranch in Five Points, Ca., soon after birth. He began his education at Helm and Westside Grammar Schools, attended San Joaquin Memorial High School, class of 1958, where he served as Student Body President, and finished at Fresno State. After college Paul joined the family farming operation and later launched his own farming business and cotton ginning company. Paul traveled to numerous countries, but his favorite destination was the garden island of Kauai. Our families are blessed with countless lively and cheerful memories made together while visiting Hawaii. Paul also designed, remodeled, and resold estate-sized homes in the L.A. area. One of his most impressive creations was purchased by Jerry Seinfeld. He loved hosting lavish parties at his elegant homes for his many friends and family. Paul had unmatched moral character and was unquestionably generous to all who knew him. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Alice Diener; sisters, Mary Louise and Alice Maureen; and daughter, Andrea Harbaugh. He is survived by his children, Christian Diener and his wife Kristi, Matthew Diener and his wife Julianne; siblings, Marie DeMera and her husband Jim, Dolores Brown, Ann Wilson, Edward Diener and his wife Carol; his grandchildren, Noelle, Camille, Brian, Benjamin, Masen, Holly, and Ellie; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Holy Family Chapel built by Paul's father, 24952 S. Lassen Ave, Five Points, on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. Internment will be held privately at St. Peter's Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, any remembrances may be made in his honor to San Joaquin Memorial High School, 1406 N. Fresno Street, 93703, or to the Dominican Sisters of Rafael, 1520 Grand Ave, San Rafael, Ca, 94901. WHITEHURST Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home 1525 East Saginaw Way Fresno (559)227-4048

Dear Chris and Matt,

My thoughts and prayers are with your families. I just recently found out about the passing of your father. He is without a doubt the greatest man I ever met. My connection with your family has been the best times of my entire life. I enjoyed my times at the ranch with Paul and our many ski trip with Andrea to Deer Valley. I will truly miss him.

Paul was the most caring and loving person that I had the privilege to know. Though his illness, he was always thinking of others, never saying an unkind word, and left such a positive impact on so many. He will truly be missed.
