Richard Dickran Atamian

Richard passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007, after a brief illness at the age of 62. Richard was raised in Tulare and Fowler. After graduating from Fowler High School, he attended Fresno City College, leaving for a tour of duty in the Vietnam Conflict. Upon returning he completed his education and trained as an electrician. A partnership in 1971 developed between Richard and his brother Robert, lasting 16 years, which included the purchase of vineyards, vineyard management, trucking and seasonal grape harvesting. His desire to continue working with the land became a reality in 1973 when he purchased his first vineyard in Madera. He continued to expand his holdings in Madera. Richard loved nothing better than a good deal which he spoke of with great relish and a smile on his face. Richard is survived by his girlfriend, Mary Pacheco; brother Robert, and his wife Judee; nephew, David Kirk Atamian, and his wife Ismerelda, and Izaac; niece, Dina Kay Minasyan and her husband John; and grandnephew Maxwell. Visitation will be held at Yost & Webb Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Gregory Armenian Church in Fowler, Ca. on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Masis Ararat Cemetery in Fresno.
