ROBERT POWERS Obituary

Robert Powers passed from this earth to heaven on Sunday morning May 26, 2013. Bob was born July 18, 1937, a major date in the Powers family. He shared his birth date with his father, his uncle and his grandmother, as well as the wedding anniversary of his parents and grandparents. Bob retired from Densmore Engines in 2002 after being a route salesman for 42 years. He was well regarded by his customers up and down the central coast as well as the north valley as far as Modesto. Bob was well versed in the art of conversation. When he retired, he took his love of woodworking and developed a small business. He also loved to snow and water ski. He snow skied from the age of 14 until about a year ago. He had his pilot's license, liked to listen to classic country music, especially Jim Reeves, and loved to needlepoint. "If Rosie Greer could needlepoint, so could I." When Barbara retired in 2007, they took their fifth wheel and traveled most of the United States, spending summers in Coos Bay, Ore. They claimed that saved their marriage as neither could handle the hot summers very well. They thoroughly enjoyed the countryside as well as meeting many friends along the way. Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara of 28 years; his sister, Caryl William Gonsalvez; his daughters, Donna and her husband Steve Childs, Deborah and her husband Steve Cleere; his stepsons, Brian Hamilton, Bradley and his wife Deborah Hamilton; "adopted daughter" Janet Jones; his grandchildren, William and his wife Holly Metzger, Kevin Childs, Edwin Hamilton, and Amanda Hamilton; one soon to be great grandchild; and Penny, his little pug. A Memorial Service will be held at the Fowler Presbyterian Church, 401 E. Merced St., in Fowler, on Friday June 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the Nancy Hinds Hospice 1616 W. Shaw Ave. Ste A-5, Fresno, Ca 93711 (www.hindshospice.org) or to the Fowler Presbyterian Church, 401 E. Merced St., Fowler, Ca 93625.
