Fresno, California - Roger Lee Hanke, 74, of Fresno, Ca passed away on October 14, 2022.
Roger was born on June 15, 1948 to Melvin and Neva Hanke in Fresno, Ca. After Roger graduated from Fresno High and Fresno City College he went on to pursue his passion of automobiles by opening a Phillips 66 service station on the corner of Clinton and Cedar. Not long after, he opened a Union 76 station at the corner of McKinley and Cedar where he continued to build his skills and clientele. In 1975, Roger opened Autosport Unlimited on Belmont which became the hub of the rest of his automotive career. It was there where he restored, repaired, and collected automobiles with a focus on Porsche, Mercedes, and Volkswagen cars. Roger also dabbled in the towing business, owned a body shop, and spent the ladder part of his career renting and selling vehicles.
Roger will be remembered for his bright blue eyes, warm smile, expertise with anything with a motor and his love for his family. He enjoyed meeting new people and traveling to car and vintage motorcycle auctions and events. He loved spending time at Bass Lake and Pismo Beach with his wife and family.
Roger is survived by his wife Charlienne, his sons Brandon and Brent Hanke; his daughter in-laws Kandice and Bethany; his grandchildren Brayden, Brett, Keston, Paxton, and Regan; his sisters Marlene and Janice and his brother Steve. He is preceded in death by his brothers Gordon, Loren, and his parents Melvin and Neva.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 28th, 10 am, at the Reedley Cemetery District. A reception will follow.
