My sincerest condolences and thoughts are with you and your family. Mr. Wathen was a great supporter of the Fresno community; I appreciated his support of the Fresno State Tennis program, helping to build the on-campus tennis center that bears his name.

Mrs. Wathen,

Spalding met my father at Cedar Lanes when I was attending Roosevelt High School. My father bowled on the Delta

Truck Lines and the AVETS teams for several years. When I met Mr. Wathen,it was during one of the mets at the lanes. He was explaining to my father how to purchase his home on San Jose with a group of other Professional Truck Drivers that were also interested in doing the same.

I was taken aback that he was a gentleman with deep convictions on what he was doing for others. That set a precedent from that day forth on how I would do the same even in a small manner for others in this world. He directed his vision to the other drivers and all those tough truck drivers felt that they had hope for their families and their futures to make a better life for all. Spaldings hard work touched many greatful families and I am proud to say that I met a man who made a difference in our family life. I enjoyed growing up in our family home and even though my parents are now gone, I still take pride in that home.
