Teri Olivar Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Teri Lynn Olivar announces her passing on October 28, 2025, in Fresno, California at the age of 71.

On July 25, 1954, John and Julie La Britt were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter, Teri, in Fresno, California. A few years later, they welcomed the addition of her brother, Stephen, to their family. It was Teri's father that planted the seeds that allowed her to grow into the strong, fighting spirit we all came to love.

Teri was an amazing and loving wife to her husband and best friend, Luciano "Luce" Olivar Jr. She was the proud mother of 2 daughters, 3 granddaughters, and 1 great-granddaughter, and a son-in-law that she loved with all her heart.

Teri attended McLane High School in Fresno, California as a member of the Class of 1972. It was here that she met the love of her life, Luciano. After school one day, she caught his eye at the Burger Chef located across the street. He approached Teri that day and expressed his love at first sight, all while declaring he was going to marry her. This was the beginning of their love-filled relationship that would last a lifetime.

While in high school, Teri passed the Federal Service Entrance Exam. She immediately began employment with the IRS and continued to attend high school as a full-time student. Her strength and dedication were already evident when she graduated from McLane High School.

In October of 1972, Teri and Luciano pledged their love to one another for the rest of their lives. They were married in a quiet ceremony in Reno, Nevada. Their biggest supporter, Maria de Jesus Olivar, stood by their sides as they expressed their undying love for one another. She would later teach Teri the art of making the best Mexican food, which her future family would love.

The following year, Teri and Luciano were overjoyed with the birth of their first daughter, Michele. A few years later, they grew their small family to include their youngest daughter, Tracy. Throughout their young lives, Teri took pride in supporting her and Luciano's daughters in every way. This sentiment would carry on as she showed the same love to her granddaughters, Anastasia, Avianna, Francessca, and great-granddaughter, Lillianna. She would even pride herself in teaching them recipes from her Greek heritage, the world's best spanakopita and kourabiedes.

Teri was always the backbone of the family. She stood by Luciano's side as he worked tirelessly as a sheet metal worker, and eventually the SMWIA's Business Agent. Together, they selflessly gave back to the workers. Hand-in-hand, they spent long hours fighting for the rights of workers'.

Teri and Luciano were afforded the opportunity to travel all over North America. From skyboxes at Toronto Blue Jay games to luaus at the Royal Iolani Palace in Hawaii, they enjoyed spending every moment together. However, their favorite place to visit together was Las Vegas, where Teri continued to honor their legacy and tradition.

Teri was finally reunited with the love of her life, her late husband, Luciano Olivar Jr. on their 53rd wedding anniversary. Together, they will continue their love story for eternity.

Teri is survived by her loving family, Tracy Olivar Tafoya and her husband Marcus Tafoya, granddaughters Anastasia Olivar Tafoya and Avianna Olivar Tafoya. She is also survived by her daughter Michele Olivar, granddaughter Francessca Olivar, and great-granddaughter Lillianna Olivar Amador. Along numerous nieces and nephews.

Love You Always For Always.
