Edward Irvin, 93 of
Palmer, Alaska died at home in the early morning hours of November 27, 2025, after struggling with the disease of Alzheimer's.
He was born May 13, 1932, in Tererro, New Mexico. To Ed, Tererro was as close to heaven as he would ever get on this earth. Having to leave his place of birth when he was 16 years of age he traveled with his family to Lufkin, Texas. At the age of eighteen he entered the Navy. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and extremely proud of his Naval service. Upon his release from the Navy, he met his beloved and they married and moved to Illinois and raised their family there. Ed mostly worked in steel fabrication but was a man of many talents and skills.
He retired at the age of fifty-seven and moved back to his beloved New Mexico until 2018 when the effects of Alzheimer's became noticeable. For he and Nola's well-being they moved to
Palmer, Alaska to be near one of their daughters.
In his adulthood he was a faithful Episcopalian belonging to St. Cyprians of Lufkin, TX., St. Michaels and all Angels of Berwyn, Il., St. Columba's of Hanover Park, Il., Holy Faith Episcopal Church of Sante Fe and finally St. Bartholomew's of
Palmer, Ak.
Ed loved to travel and he made sure to visit all fifty states, all the provinces of Canada, Mexico, and many European and Asian countries as well. Ed was very sociable and made friends easily.
The family would like to extend thanks to the local businesses and Non-profits that treated Ed with such respect and dignity in his later years as Alzheimer's was robbing him of his person:
Sunrise Grill of Palmer his favorite breakfast place, Great Clips of Palmer that kept him looking sharp, Oy of Ya Ya Nails Palmer for converting Ed into a pedicure man, Adult Day Services of Palmer especially Tylene who always has a smile, the Wasilla Alzheimer's Association which helped to educate and support us through this disease and finally Ancora Hospice as they led us through a dignified death.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas Franklin Irvin and Ella Belle McGuire, Sisters: Alma Hendry, Alice Havard, Molly Sullivan, Annie Khan, brother: Thomas Franklin Irvin Jr. and son: Thomas Franklin Irvin II.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Nola Mary Lambert Irvin of Palmer Ak, Daughters: Belinda Bowersmith (Joe), Shelley Celestine, Kathleen Patterson (Mike), Ella Irvin, and son Matthew Irvin Sister: Marian Waesche as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
