Robert David Stoll
September 22, 1946 - December 8, 2024
Robert Stoll, or Bob, was born September 22, 1946 in Sutherland, Nebraska to Dave & Margaret Stoll, the first of their 4 children. He attended Sutherland High School, playing all available sports- football, basketball and track. He graduated in 1964 and played college basketball at Northeastern Jr. College in Sterling, Colorado then transferred to Kearney Nebraska Teachers College.
Drafted into the military, he served honorably in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970.
He received a National Defense Service Medal; a Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars; Combat Infantryman Badge; Army Commendation Medal with V for Valor Device; Air Medal; Bronze Star Medal; Expert Rifle M-14 and Good Conduct Medal.
After his military service, he returned to Colorado and worked on various highway construction projects. He married Linda Chandler in 1974 and together they raised three children. In 1983, they moved to Alaska for Bob to pursue a new career as a rural mail carrier.
Bob retired in 2015 and married Karen Carney that same year. Together, they traveled to Colorado, Hawaii & Arizona, visiting with kids & grandkids, golfing & enjoying the beach.
Bob was a lifetime member of the Elk's and Moose Lodges, and also belonged to the VFW and American Legion Post 15.
On October 4, 2023, Bob had open heart surgery and suffered significant complications afterwards. He fought like hell to regain his health until December 8th when quietly passed away with Karen by his side.
Bob is survived by his wife, Karen, his son Joe and his wife, Laura and their sons, Harrison & Holden, of Parker, Colorado; his son Jarrett of Flagstaff, Arizona, and daughter, Kim and her husband, Chad Salz and their children, Caden & Kamryn's of Windsor, Colorado.
Also surviving are Karen's children, Jake and his wife, Sydney and their daughter, Harlow of Wasilla and Katie Carney of Princeton, West Virginia.
A Celebration of Bob's life was held Sunday December 29, and my, what a celebration it was! He was smiling on us.
Bob's final resting place will be at Ft. McPherson Military Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska at a later date.
