Evelyn Joan Eller, 93, Forest, passed away at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent, Kokomo. Joan was born on Dec. 15, 1927 in Howard County to the late Harry and Mary Gladys (Seward) Oilar. On May 1, 1949, in a small ceremony at home, she married Robert "Bob" Eller, and he survives.
Joan was a 1945 graduate of Forest High School. She worked as a bank teller at First National Bank until her marriage to Bob. She was then a farmer's wife, housewife and, most importantly, a mother. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Joan was strong in her Christian faith. She was a member and pianist of West Point Christian Church for over 60 years. She started playing piano at age 13 for various church groups and for special occasions. Joan was a member of Ladies Aide and Clinton County Extension Homemakers Club in Forest.
Along with her husband, Joan is survived by her children, Larry Eller and Greg (Kandace) Eller; grandchildren, Lauren (Brent) Hornett, Steffan (Katie Corbin) Eller, Nolan Eller, Madalyn (Oscar) Trujillo, Greyson Eller and Gillian Eller; and great-grandchildren, Brookston and Carter Hornett, Ayres Eller, Maggie, Lula and Cruz Trujillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bob (Mary Kathryn) Oilar, Mary (Glenn) Fisher, Betty (Max) Berry, and Richard (Glenda) Oilar.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Darren Miracle officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday at the funeral home.
